Schaefer, Shirley (24 JUN 1949)
Miss Shirley Schaefer and Delbert Sloniker were married Friday, June 24, 1949, at the American Legion Church, Loyal, by the Rev. John Langholz.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schaefer, Spencer, are the bride’s parents. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sloniker, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).
Bridal aides were Miss Betty Jean Skoog, Greenwood, as maid of honor, and Miss Darlene Jacobi of Loyal.
Attending the groom were Edward Sloniker, who served as best man for his brother, and Verlin Sloniker, another brother of the groom.
The bride was attired in a white satin gown, trimmed with wide lace, and carried a colonial bouquet of roses, carnations, and baby’s breath. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a crown of seed pearls.
The bridal aides wore taffeta gowns, complemented with matching gauntlets and veiled headdresses. They were in blue and pink, respectively, and had wrist corsages of roses and carnations.
A supper was served to 75 guests at the home of the groom’s parents. In the evening a dance was given at Merry Ol’ Gardens.
The bride attended Loyal High School, and the groom is a graduate of Greenwood High School. He is now employed at the Co-op Cheese Factory at Greenwood.
When the newlyweds return from a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, they will reside in Greenwood.
